Our Story

Have you ever felt overwhelmed and thought, "I need therapy," but hesitated because of the cost? "Maybe I'll just wait it out," you tell yourself.

I've been there.

For major life events like loss, I saw a therapist. But when it came to the “smaller” stuff — the anxiety, the stress, the overthinking — I'd pause. "It's not bad enough," I'd convince myself, "I'll seek help if it gets worse."

Why? It was always the cost. Frequent therapy sessions just didn't fit my budget no matter what I did.

During the pandemic, Cherry and I talked with over 100 people. We were astonished by the amount of people who shared our frustration.

It dawned on us: Canada's existing mental health system is NOT working.

Most people cannot afford to get the support they need.

Free government services? Another dead end, with waitlists stretching up to a year only to find out you don’t have a choice of who you confide in.

There was no middle ground.

Why should mental well-being be less prioritized than physical health?

Why the absence of a solution that truly brings therapy to all?

We could no longer sit idle. Compelled to act, we launched a pay-what-you-can platform, making therapy TRULY accessible in the long-term.

Sure, we faced skepticism — “It’ll never work,” they said.

But, this has only been made possible thanks to our incredible community. Those who are able to pay a bit more, make it possible for others to pay a little less.

We all work together. We are Alli’s.

Now, 2.5 years later: together, we’ve made it possible for over 12,000 individuals have accessed therapy. Our team has conducted over 57,000 therapy sessions and grown to a team of 200+ passionate therapists.

Our mission? Therapy for everyone, no matter your walk of life.

Join us in reshaping the future of therapy.

Warmly,

Sarah & Cherry

P.S. Wondering about our name, Alli? Since it’s neither of our names? Pronounced "ally", it signifies a friend or supporter. We aspire to be that unwavering support in your life, in both the good and challenging times.
